Recently I’ve met my good friend HyeJung Jeon, founder and director of the excellent London East Asia Film Festival, for a chat over a cup of green tea. I was happy to show her the first translation of Ko Un’s poetry into Romanian language, a project that I initiated and coordinated out of a genuine passion for the original, intense and unpredictable writing of South Korea’s most cherished poet. Titled “Time with Dead Poets”, the volume features on the front cover an atmospheric watercolour by Ko Un’s daughter ChaRyong Ko. Lots of nice memories from the time spent with Ko Un at the Bucharest International Poetry Festival 2016 as well… so I’ve agreed with HyeJung that we have to plan together new Korean treats for the Romanian audience!
